PFC Shubert served in Co D 69th Infantry Brigade in the Missouri National Guard.
Herbert Roy Shubert, son of Charles C. and Minnie Shubert. was born July 31, 1887 in Mt. Sterling, Ky., and entered into rest Oct. 4, 1963 at the Veterans Hospital in Kansas City. He had been in ill health for several monthe but was greatly improved until he was stricken with pneumonia and lingered only a few days. At the age of 8 his family moved to Missouri and established their home in Bates county near Adrian, where he grew to manhood. He made his confession of faith at the Altona Altona Christian church. On March 12, 1918 he was united in marriage to Goldena Mable Gooch and to this union were born 8 children. He served in the army in World War I. Most of his life was spent farming and raising livestock, living the latter years on a farm near Garden City. He was a faithful member of the Garden City Christian church where he served as an elder for several years. . He was a very devoted husband and father and was kind hearted, well liked person.
