I was commissioned as a second lieutenant Dec 1970 thru ROTC at Pittsburg State College. Then I attended the armor officers basic course at Fort Knox KY. Then I was assigned to the Headquarters Company 2nd Battalion 63rd Armor at Fort Riley KS as assistant adjutant from 1971 to 1972. I was promoted to first lieutenant and then assigned to Headquarters Company 2nd Brigade 1st Infantry Division from 1972 to 1973 as assistant adjutant at Fort Riley. Then I was assigned to F Troop 2nd Squadron 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Bamberg Germany as a platoon commander from 1973 to 1974 where we guarded the East/West German border. Then I was promoted to Captain and I was assigned to Headquarters Troop 2nd Squadron 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Bamberg as the squadron adjutant from 1974 to 1975. Then I branch transferred from armor to the adjutant general Corp and I was assigned to the Regional Personnel Center in Bamberg as the executive officer. I came home from there and left active duty.
